Vision Pro Device Receives Major Functional Update
During WWDC24, Apple unveiled visionOS 2, providing a comprehensive upgrade to Vision Pro. Firstly, through machine learning, users can now directly convert 2D photos into spatial photos. Secondly, they have introduced lift and dual-finger touch input interaction methods, enabling gestures to be applied to a wider range of functions. Thirdly, in scenarios where users are working in conjunction with a computer, Vision Pro has enhanced the Mac virtual display screen. Users will now experience an ultra-wide screen equivalent to having two 4K displays placed side by side. In this feature, Vision Pro utilizes dynamic focal point technology, ensuring that the displayed content remains crystal clear from any angle.
With the news of the launch of the domestic version on June 28th, we can truly feel that such a powerful performance and continuously upgraded spatial computing device is gradually entering our lives.
Surrounding Vision Pro’s powerful performance, market opportunities are penetrating everywhere.
According to VR Gyroscope, even before Vision Pro was officially launched, many enterprises had begun developing content tailored to Vision Pro for consumers, introducing offline entertainment scenes adapted for Vision Pro. The same applies to the business sector.
Vision Pro has seen numerous successful cases in fields such as healthcare, education, and industry. For example, surgeons are already using the Mako robot to assist in hip and knee surgeries, reducing patient pain during surgery and shortening recovery times. With the launch of My Mako, doctors can visually execute surgeries more intuitively with the help of Vision Pro.
Complete HeartX is currently the first spatial computing-based cardiac medical education application, featuring 3D models, animations, videos, images, video simulations, and various other contents for healthcare personnel’s preliminary learning. Through gestures on Vision Pro, users can naturally explore the functioning and internal structure of the heart.
Exploring Mars is a technology education application developed based on spatial computing. It includes a Mars rover model based on real NASA data. Users can select specific parts of the rover to learn about related functions, as well as freely scale and move the model within space for exploration.
Offline entertainment brought by Vision Pro leads to the “catfish effect”
Offline entertainment with Vision Pro is demonstrating even greater stretchability.
In February 2024, Apple officially launched Vision Pro, but various enterprises had already prepared for a transformation. In the entertainment market, due to the high pricing of Vision Pro, the first surge was not from individual users but from online rentals and offline experience stores.
It is reported that even before the release of Vision Pro, online rental services for Vision Pro had started accepting reservations, with prices mostly starting at over 2500 yuan/day, with waiting times extending up to 15 days. After Vision Pro’s launch, rental prices decreased to 500 yuan/day within a month, and now range from 200-500 yuan/day.
Furthermore, 2023 was a crucial year for improving XR terminals, with the key being Apple’s release of Vision Pro, elevating visual, auditory, and interactive experiences to the highest level, enhancing VR appeal while taking XR experiences to unprecedented levels.
The arrival of Vision Pro has become a new medium distinguishing it from previous XR terminals, combining unparalleled brand power and technological integration to create innovative experiences, fully activating the public’s imagination of the spatial computing era.
From VR to MR, the offline entertainment market for Vision Pro is gradually opening up
For the offline entertainment market, everyone naturally does not want to miss this opportunity. Some enterprises started selecting store locations and setting up Vision Pro’s offline experience stores in major cities half a year ago, all aiming to seize the first opportunity for offline access.
Creating a product form that aligns with Vision Pro’s unique advantages in offline formats has become a new topic in the industry.
A-Station, as the first brand to explore offline commercial ventures targeting AVP, has provided a good response to this issue. They began planning and constructing Vision Pro content a year ago and quickly established a Vision Pro deep experience pop-up store in Beijing’s 798 Art Zone.
Looking at the pop-up store’s operational data, during the May Day holiday, the store was crowded with experience customers, from tech enthusiasts to children and even tourists eager to try out the virtual space. Dozens of Vision Pro units in the store were almost fully operational, resulting in considerable profits.
To further expand the market, A-Station will open a flagship store in Beijing’s 798 Art Zone, launching the “Life Carnival” offline experience project. The “Life Carnival” is A-Station’s self-made original experience content, deeply integrating Vision Pro’s features and creating a new experience that combines reality and virtuality around the architectural style of the 798 Art Zone. The “Life Carnival” offers an experience duration of approximately 40 minutes, covering a walking distance of 400 meters, accommodating 120 people per hour, and is expected to go live in July.
The four innovative gameplay features of the “Life Carnival”: heading outdoors, blending reality and virtuality, high freedom, and super sensory interaction
Imagine wearing Vision Pro and strolling through tourist attractions; you can see pedestrians passing by and the buildings on 798 Main Street. Suddenly, a mysterious crack appears in the sky, and a giant virtual creature emerges from it. You can interact with it, and it will react to the real environment. As you approach it, the enhanced audiovisual feedback makes it feel like you’re transported to a surreal world.
This is the most intuitive experience A-Station hopes to provide users, moving away from traditional indoor spaces to large outdoor spaces. In a scene blending reality and virtuality, users can freely complete a new experiential journey.
The “Life Carnival” deeply integrates the unique characteristics of the 798 Main Street, allowing users to see the real appearance of the park and admire the unique designs of the buildings and sculptures on 798 Main Street while fully immersing themselves in the virtual world, experiencing a visual impact of art scenes simultaneously on the screen.
When encountering giant objects in the gameplay, users can interact with them in a lifelike manner. Walking in a large outdoor space, users are completely immersed in an open world, ensuring a high degree of freedom in the experience. You can choose to stroll through the streets to experience the art feast or interact with giant creatures, experiencing the scenery of the 798 Art Zone in a virtual and real-world fusion—an entirely new experience mode not yet seen on the market, with more gameplay waiting to be discovered by users.
The virtual scenes presented in the “Life Carnival” were jointly created by the research and development team, students, and faculty of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Communication University of China, with a unique artistic style and vibrant visual effects. Additionally, the content design incorporates themes of vanity and greed, creating a thrilling yet satisfying soul-shaking experience while opening an art feast combined with reality.
What’s also interesting is seeing a row of people wearing Vision Pro walking on 798 Main Street, exuding a cool vibe. For users who enjoy taking photos for memories, it’s also a great way to capture moments.
To make the Vision Pro offline market more engaging, A-Station has redesigned the layout of the flagship store, perfectly showcasing the fusion of technology and art from the exterior to the interior. They have also set up a relaxation area with a bar, serving as a bar and experiential business hub. The park is a great place for leisurely chats while strolling around, and visitors can share experiences and enjoy discounted beverage services in the store.
Moreover, considering the needs of some people, A-Station has set up an outdoor seating area. Located on the main street of the 798 Art Zone, visitors can sit and rest after a long walk, enjoying the beautiful views of the main street, adding to the enjoyment of the experience.
For users who prefer not to experience indoors, they can choose to move to the outdoor seating area. As the flagship store is located on 798 Art Zone’s main street, taking a break and watching the crowds and street views while experiencing Vision Pro offers an instant sense of fulfillment. Upon entering the experience area after passing the bar counter, you will see a futuristic giant silver sculpture standing in the center, with a row of Vision Pro units displayed in front, symbolizing the gateway to the future.
