On June 13th, the blockchain development team Movement Labs based in San Francisco announced the launch of the “Battle of Olympus,” an innovative hackathon event aimed at driving the growth and adoption of the modular blockchain network Movement based on Move. This hackathon marks the first phase of Movement Labs’ testnet and will provide developers with an early opportunity to try out the network, taking place from July 17th to September 17th, 2024. 280 Capital and other partners will serve as judges, providing guidance and advice to the teams.
The Battle of Olympus is a crucial component of Movement Labs’ broader “Road to Parthenon” initiative, a community project designed to foster the development of a strong and thriving ecosystem for Movement Labs’ mainnet in the future. The hackathon will bring together talented developers and enthusiasts to innovate and build groundbreaking applications on Movement Labs’ development network and testnet.
The hackathon features a gamified structure, allowing participants to earn points and rewards throughout the process. Developers part of the “Masons” guild, one of the five unique guilds, can create innovative dApps in categories such as DeFi, gaming, social tools, infrastructure, and NFTs.
To join the Masons guild, developers can form teams of up to four members and register on the official hackathon website. Teams from around the world can participate online or in-person in San Francisco. Throughout the event, Movement Labs will provide support, guidance, and resources to help participants succeed.
Outstanding projects will receive generous rewards, with winners selected by a panel of seasoned judges based on criteria such as concept, execution, use of Movement native features, innovation, technical excellence, user experience, and potential impact.
In addition to the Masons guild for developers, non-engineer enthusiasts can participate and support the Battle of Olympus through four other guilds:
– Pathfinders: design guides, engage with the community, organize events
– Creators: create content related to Movement, emojis, and participate in world-building
– Explorers: interact with partners, write articles, and analyze ecosystem data
– Scholars: write content, design quizzes, and collaborate on reports about the hackathon and Movement ecosystem
“The Battle of Olympus provides a unique opportunity for our entire community to get involved, regardless of your skills and interests,” said Cooper Scanlon, co-founder of Movement Labs. “Whether you are a developer or an enthusiast, we provide the tools and support needed for innovation and shaping the decentralized landscape.”
The winners of the Battle of Olympus will be announced in mid-September. For more information and to register, please visit http://olympus.movementlabs.xyz
