At 1:00 PM Beijing time today, after a month and a half of witch review, LayerZero finally opened for airdrop eligibility verification

However, most addresses only have a few to dozens of ZRO, with the least even less than 0.1. According to pre-market trading data from Whales Market and Aevo, the price of ZRO is about 4 U, which means that most addresses airdropped tokens are only worth tens of dollars. For users with low winning rates, it may not even be enough to cover the cost of interaction.
According to Lookonchain monitoring, a top airdrop hunter also stumbled on LayerZero, with its address receiving only 354.92 ZRO (about $1420) in this airdrop, having received substantial profits in previous airdrops: 104,806 ZK ($29,000), 10250 ARB ($14,000), and 17,007 OP ($24,000).
All of the above proves that LayerZero can be regarded as the largest “anti-rubbing” project of the year.
Airdrop calculation rules
LayerZero CEO Bryan Pellegrino stated that only 1.28 million eligible addresses will ultimately be announced in the witch address final list tomorrow.
Regarding the final airdrop calculation rules, Bryan provided some explanations, focusing on the following aspects combined with the previous “Ten Questions LayerZero Co-founder: How to Handle Volume Trading, How to Calculate Token Incentives?”:
The airdrop quantity is distributed linearly according to the LayerZero protocol fee, excluding fees charged by other protocols such as Stargate;
The minimum airdrop quantity for LayerZero Core group users is 25 tokens, with a maximum of 5000 tokens;
RFP ranges from a minimum of 5 tokens to a maximum of 10000 tokens;
All early transactions receive a triple multiplier, and later users receive an additional 10 ZRO;
NFT transactions with zero value are reduced by 80%.
In addition to the basic rules mentioned above, LayerZero has included many other calculation factors, including various NFTs and protocols, but LayerZero has not disclosed specific details, leading to many doubts in the community.
Is there Insider Trading again?
Shortly after the query link was released, a query result image began circulating in the community, showing that a user received 10,000 ZRO airdrop by holding the NFT Kanpai Pandas, but the specific address was not disclosed in the community spread content.
Upon investigation by Odaily, it was found that Kanpai Pandas is an NFT series that utilizes LayerZero’s ONFT cross-chain technology. The lowest level Kanpai Pandas can receive 63 ZRO, while higher levels like INIFINITY can receive 522 tokens, and ALIEN HOLDERS can receive 437 tokens. This series has a total of 7976 tokens, so approximately a million ZRO were airdropped to holders of this NFT series, not the rumored 30 million tokens.
In fact, as the “favorite son” NFT of LayerZero, Pudgy Penguins also received varying amounts of airdrops, ranging from tens to hundreds, similar to Kanpai Pandas.
LayerZero Labs CEO Bryan Pellegrino (Stinky Penguin) also confirmed that a total of 10 million tokens were airdropped to Stargate users, with Pudgy Penguins and Pandas holders each receiving 1 million tokens. “All projects in RFP will be allocated to their communities according to their wishes, detailed information will be announced later.”
However, Odaily found some interesting situations during the investigation:
An address (0x251f8294b1e5df92366ced179fb66b7745749b6b) that has only traded two NFTs, with Kanpai Pandas earning 5335 ZRO.
The other NFT purchased by this address, Mafia Nuts, was transferred to address 2 (0x89cff61026f6743b8d25ae9b253582083136b1c4), with an airdrop quota of 15010 tokens, of which Kanpai Pandas contributed 9919 tokens.
As a well-known LayerZero technology-related NFT, holding a large number of this NFT and being a target for airdrops does not necessarily imply insider trading. However, for the vast majority of users who only received a few tokens, the existence of multiple precise hits on mysterious addresses can indeed trigger suspicions and anxieties.
LayerZero may become the EndGame of rubbing
In 2023, the three giants of rubbing, Starknet, ZKsync, and LayerZero, finally come to an end. Now ZKsync and LayerZero have caused strong dissatisfaction in the community. Starknet, which was previously criticized for high gas fees and network congestion, has become the final “big hair.” Subsequent projects are of a smaller scale than previous ones and will only become more internalized, making LayerZero potentially the EndGame of rubbing.
