McLaren F1 Racing Team to Launch Monaco Grand Prix Special Edition Livery in 2024

On May 21, 2024, the McLaren F1 team announced the debut of a special edition one-off race car livery inspired by driver Ayrton Senna at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2024.


The “McLaren SENNA” will be presented by OKX and Senna Global.
The “OKX Presents McLaren SENNA” event is a collaboration between McLaren Racing, their official partner OKX, and Senna Global. It aims to celebrate the racing legend of Ayrton Senna. In commemoration of the thirtieth anniversary of Senna’s passing, this livery not only pays tribute to him but also honors his legendary life and his impact on McLaren and F1 racing. The color scheme of the livery is inspired by Senna’s iconic helmet, featuring vibrant yellow, green, and blue, and it will be showcased on the MCL38 race car throughout the Monaco Grand Prix weekend in 2024.
Senna raced for the McLaren F1 team from 1988 to 1993 and was the most successful driver in the team’s history. He achieved a total of 41 Grand Prix victories, with 35 of them coming while driving for McLaren. He also won the driver’s championship three times, and the team won the constructor’s championship four times. Senna had a strong connection with Monaco and was known as the “King of Monaco” for his six victories there, including an impressive five consecutive wins from 1989 to 1993. Therefore, the iconic Circuit de Monaco was the perfect choice for McLaren to commemorate Senna.
McLaren Automotive also unveiled a limited edition McLaren Senna road car as a tribute to Senna’s legendary story. This custom edition, called “Senna Sempre,” incorporates design elements similar to the F1 livery and complements it. The car’s livery was designed and hand-painted by McLaren’s Special Operations department, drawing inspiration from Senna’s helmet. It combines the yellow, green, and blue colors while cleverly integrating Senna’s halftone portrait and other related elements.
During the race, the McLaren team will also wear race suits inspired by Senna, with both driver Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri sporting custom-made race suits. Fans can also participate in the event and show their support by purchasing a range of customized merchandise featuring the colors of Senna’s era and the McLaren team livery. The “Senna X Monaco” collection will be available for sale at McLaren stores.
